Palm Springs for a Weekend

Living in Southern California a majority of my life, I’ve visited Palm Springs on several occasions. Although it wasn’t ever one of my top destinations, this trip changed everything.

I started to regularly visit Palm Springs about 5 years ago, which was for a yearly work trip. I had a conference every summer (yes, I said summer) where we would stay a week, golf, eat and learn all of the new things for the company I previously worked for.

Palm Springs has really stepped it up with accommodations, food and the vibe they are trying to portray. It’s slightly poshey with with mouthwatering food, and very relaxing.

WHEN TO GO:

Winter is peak tourism season in the desert: The weather is perfect for all the pastimes Palm Springs enjoys best – spa pampering, pool lounging and hiking. We went in September for our friends wedding and I loved the weather. It was in the 90’s during the day and dropped down to high 70’s at night.

WHERE TO STAY:

I love the small feel of a boutique hotel. The Korakia consists of two main areas—one Moroccan in style and the other Mediterranean. Its rooms are an ever-changing treasure trove of art, antiques, and unusual furniture and accessories that the hotel's owner purchases on his travels around the world. The result is that each room is totally unique. The Korakia (which means Greek crow) couldn't have been better, it felt like we had left the country for the weekend. There are 2 pools and breakfast is included in your stay. On Saturdays there is a complementary sound healing session. This is by far the best place I've stayed in Palm Springs.

WHAT TO EAT:

This particular travel was for a friends wedding so we stayed on property the entire trip and everything minus the breakfast was catered in. It was heaven! I over indulged in the food and literally only took 2 pictures because I was in a trance about how incredible every bite and sip was.

SIDE NOTE:

I also had the incredible pleasure of teaching a rooftop yoga class to the bride, groom and selected guests of the wedding party. As with all my classes I create it with a specific intention. I thought about what I would want before such a big day and also what I have found that I need in my own marriage. This particular class I wanted to cultivate strength and space, as that's what I believe one needs as an individual and also in a marriage. When the group sat up from a wonderful savasana in the sun, there was not only sweat, but tears as well. Leading that class was the ultimate honor and we even created a timelapse video you can watch on the ' gram :)

We are definitely coming back for another weekend trip here and will try to leave the property and explore this time, but no guarantees.
